By Philip Trapp on Jun 24, 2016 01:35 PM EDT

Big Muddy Blues Festival in St. Louis is bringing it all back home with a regionally-sourced lineup for the 2016 edition of the blues-fest this fall. Drawing music fans from across the nation, the festival takes place September 3-4 in the Gateway City and features over 45 acts local to the town.

"Every Labor Day weekend, St. Louis' historic Laclede's Landing hosts over 60,000 people from around the country for the Big Muddy Blues Festival. This outdoor festival attracts an eclectic audience with the intention of celebrating the indigenous art from known as 'the Blues.'"

Artists scheduled to perform at this year's fest include Boo Boo Davis, Skeet Rodgers & the Inner City Blues Band, Love Jones, Tommy Halloran, Big Mike Aguirre & the Blu City All Stars, Tom Hall, David Dee, Brian Curran and the long-running Pennsylvania Slim Blues Band.

Festival entertainment coordinator Jeremy Segel-Moss' blues band Bottoms Up Blues Gang will also be performing. According to a recent article from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the musician-organizer's aim for this year's event was to highlight the pool of local blues stars native to the area:

"'St. Louis has an enormous wealth of talent. Making it all local doesn't make it subpar. It's well past time we celebrate what makes St. Louis St. Louis, and that's our music,' says Segel-Moss, whose longtime band Bottoms Up Blues Gang is booked for the festival (he is also president of the St. Louis Blues Society, though he's booking the festival as an independent contractor, not as part of the Blues Society)."
