Eighteen art major students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) have the opportunity to present their masterpieces in Lux Center for the Arts in N. 48th Street in Lincoln.

The exhibition started in the First Day Celebration on 6th of January and will end on the 21st of January, as what was posted in Daily Nebraskan.

"Let there be Light" was chosen as the exhibit's title since works follow no particular theme. Freshmen art major and participant Mikayla Zulkoski from Burwell, Nebraska, said that this title has a positive touch in welcoming and looking forward for the New Year. Also, the artists like her can use this chance to share light to the world by presenting their artworks and be an inspiration to others.

This exhibition is organized by Sandra Williams of UNL's School of Arts and Design Associate Professor of Arts. Participants must have completed their studio art foundation and drawing courses. Student artists meticulously chose their best works to be displayed which features self portraits, 3D art designs and more.

This program is optional but interested students must come up with their websites where their biography and curriculum vitae are found. Their masterpieces should be shown in the said website.

Williams thinks that joining this kind of events is indeed a great help to aspiring artists not only academically but also professionally, according to the post of UNL official website. Their participation in exhibits like this will be seen in their websites which could be advantageous to them. Lux exhibits also give them the great practice and experiences.

Zulkoski emphasizes her gratitude towards the event. She states that showing her artworks to the people makes her feel proud to herself and her creation. In fact, most of her family member arrived to the Lux Center to witness her masterpiece. She made a 3D needle-felted sculpture of what she calls "beast".

Williams plans on gathering all the artworks to be used as promotional materials for the next Lux exhibition to come.
