Book To Movie: A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron Is A New Dog Story Masterpiece

Lasse Hallstrom offers another dog movie with ''A Dog's Purpose'', lt is expected to be a great success as his previous Dog-themed movies.

‘’A Dog’s Purpose’’ is the new film by Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom who is known for "The Cider House Rules," "Chocolate" and his two famous canine-themed films "Hachi: A Dog’s Tale" and the one that made him famous "My Life As A Dog". ‘’A Dog’s Purpose’’ tells a story about a dog's reincarnation and his search for his purpose in this world. First, being a cute puppy who unfortunately dies early. The dog reincarnates as a beautiful Golden Retriever that ends up in the hands of Ethan (Bruce Gheisar). Ethan is a young boy who does everything to convince his father to let him keep the dog. Following Ethans sports career, love, and adventures, he lives long and dies of old age. ‘’A Dog’s Purpose’’ then leads the audience through several reincarnations and in one of them he ends up with a farmer played by Dennis Quaid. Variety gives a good note for Quaid's standardly good performance, but comment that human actors where not in the first plan of this film. 

Film ‘’A Dog’s Purpose’’ is based on a book by W. Bryce Cameron who also worked as a screenwriter with Hallstrom. Good Reads says that the book has a philosophical view on the question "Why are we here?" Going through several incarnations, it is warm story that might light up a few hearts and wheedle a few tears. It is a human story told through dog’s life.

On the side, EOnline reports about a video that has shown up lately which shows alleged animal abuse on set of ‘’A Dog’s Purpose’’. The video shows a German shepherd forced into thank with water. This video raised some voices of animal right supporters and the director, writer and other members of the production had to respond to it. They said that animal safety was in the first plan on set and this video does not shows real events and atmosphere on set.
