Adam Jacobs' Final Farewell To Broadway's 'Aladdin'

Actor Adam Jacobs, who rose to stardom with the title role in "Aladdin" on Broadway, has bidder his farewell in a stunning musical performance on Sunday. The show also kickstarted Jacobs' final "Aladdin" tour across North America. In the coming days, the suitable replacement for Jacobs will be announced and meanwhile, his understudy Joshua Dela Cruz will play the role.

PlayBill recalls that Jacobs has played the title role of "Aladdin" at the Broadway Musical since its debut in 2014. So far he has played the role to perfection for more than 1000 times earning him a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical.

The report further added that Telly Leung, who made a comeback to Broadway through "In Transit", is likely to be the replacement for Jacobs. However, Disney is yet to make an official announcement. Some of his Broadway shows include Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Flower Drum Song," the revival of "Godspell" and George Takei's "Allegiance." He also played a key role in TV series "Glee."

TheatreMania writes that the "Aladdin" show is based on the 1992 Disney animated film and currently has Courtney Reed as Jasmine and Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie. The mesmerizing musical is perfectly complimented by a stunning background score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice. And of course, the song "A Whole New World" has won the Academy Award.

The rest of the technical team for "Aladdin" includes scenic design by Bob Crowley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Ken Travis, illusions by Jim Steinmeyer, hair design by Josh Marquette, music arrangements by Michael Kosarin, orchestrate by Danny Troob, and dance music arrangement by Glen Kelly.

The farewell "Aladdin" tour kickstarted in Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre and the team is likely to announce details about the upcoming engagements in the coming months.
