Russian Composer, Sofia Gubaidulina, Take The Win For 400k Award

Russian composer, Sofia Gubaidulina, receives annually award from BBVA in Madrid, Spain. This award is given to honor her ingenious in contemporary music field. Determined as an outstanding composer, Gubaidulina take the win for this 400k award which previously went to Steve Reich, Boulez and Scarino.

Sofia Gubaidulina, born on 1931, has started to fall into music after hearing musical composition by an itinerant accordionist, Shurka Durak. That music make this later on become Russian composer hum and walk delightly as she stroll around the street. She was later introduced to piano by her parent and it was when she think that she will be a great composer. Her childhood dream then became reality as she passionately studied her music.

Later on her life, she considered music as an escape from the prolonged political problems as what is being through by her country at that time. Being attracted to spiritual phenomenon, this so called Russian composer pursued her music career with the theme of spiritualism and religion.

Composing music about religious convictions, Gubaidulina was once blacklisted from the Sixth Congress of the Composser. However, she didn't see it as something that could stop her to write her own music. Russian composer, Gubaidulina, stated herself this situation give her a freedom to write whatever she want without being compromised.

At the year of 1980, this remarkable Russion composer spread her wings outside of her country. Her music become known to the people abroad. It was thanks to Gideon Kremer for his performance on Offertorium, Gubaidulina's violin concerto. From that moment on, she began her music career internationally and continue on composing her own unique music.

For her long strive on musical composing, this Russian composer have received many kind of awards. And for this year, her work is again rewarded by 400k award. It is stated that her outstanding work and long devoted to music make the judges take their remarks on this Russian composer.
