Nokia has defined a generation of mobiles through its classic 3310 mobile phone, which is now being coming back after 17 years since its first release. Given its unique Nokia ringtone, the compact design and the iconic mobile game Snake, the 3310 was among the first handsets to become a cultural icon, selling over 100 million units.

The new Nokia 3310 version was launched by Finnish company HMD Global that comprises largely of former Nokia employees, who were able to acquire the rights to the brand. Reports suggest that the handset was easily recognized by the previous owners of the classic version during its launch at the MWC in Barcelona. However, many took notice of the slightly thinner size and colored screen as compared to the original's monochrome.

Nokia 3310 is also reported to have a battery that lasts for 30 days, but only with a basic internet access via its 2.5G connection, which means the handset will have no WhatsApp and Facebook, including other modern smartphone staples.

Nevertheless, Nokia has provided  a number of mod cons that were not found in the original such as an SD card slot for music and photos, a headphone jack, 2MP camera and an FM radio. The new handset will also include mobile game Snake, although a different twist is expected for the game, which the previous 3310 users are expected to recognize. It has Snake, although a different twist on the game from what original 3310 users might recognize, Telegraph reported.

Nokia, meanwhile, seems to enjoy its return in the spotlight as it announces plans of rebranding Withings devices. According to reports, this is part of the company's effort to keep up with its remarkable comeback with the wearable technology going alongside its revamped Nokia 3310.

Recently, Nokia hit the headlines after the relaunch of the classic 3310 smartphone during the Mobile World Congress. However, it appears that the iconic Finnish technology manufacturer is not sticking to only smartphones, as it has also announced the plan to acquire a Nokia smartwatch, Express reported.
