The Atlanta Opera will present the Don Pasquale Donizetti's comic masterpiece. The production will be having surprises for the audience to enjoy.

According to Access Atlanta, the "Don Pasquale's" setting will be the Golden Age of Hollywood in the 1950s. The story follows a man named Don Pasquale who is an aging silent film star at the sunset of his career.

Don Pasquale sets off to find a wife and heir to his fortune to stop his nephew, Ernesto, from grabbing his money. He meets Norina, a widowed gold digger who conspires with Ernesto to trick the old man and getting his money.

The opera will be directed by the acclaimed disciple of the legendary Marcel Marceau, Chuck Hudson. The Don Pasquale version of Hudson is influenced by Marceau's craft of acting and miming according to Broadway World.

Hudson first idea for the production is supposed to be similar to Shakespeare because of the rhythmic language has a musicality all its own. Then ever since he found ways of letting the music tell the story as much as the words do, then the staging traditions of opera came easier to him.

The conductor of the opera will be Maestro Joseph Colaneri, the current music director of Glimmerglass Opera Festival. He previously conducted productions at The Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera

Bass-baritone Burak Bilgili will be in the title role, he is seen last year in Rome and Juliet production. Because of his talents, he was taken to the Metropolitan Opera, Naples Opera, San Francisco Opera and Carnegie Hall.

The role of Norina will be played by Soprano Georgia Jarman, Jarman played the title role of Lucia in The Atlanta Opera's Lucia di Lammermoor. She appeared in the Royal Opera House production of Written on Skin and her recent highly acclaimed role as Roxana in Kasper Holten's new production of Król Roger at the Royal Opera House.

The show runs on March 25, 28, 31 and April 2 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. To purchase the tickets you can call 404-881-8885 or online at atlantaopera.org.
