Daniel Greenberg & Susan Steinhauser, a Los Angeles-based art collector couple, will donate hundreds of their collection to J. Paul Getty Museum and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. The contribution also includes 20th-century influential photographers such as Dorothea Lange, Mary Ellen Mark and William Eggleston.

The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC collect 143 gelatin silver prints given by Dorothea Lange with ten bonus work as promised, the Washington Post reported. Eudora Welty, Berenice Abbott, and Bruce Davidson along with the other 17 photographers contribute their 386 works to J. Paul Getty Museum.

The art offering that involves donations to 13 art institution is part of a larger initiative by Daniel Greenberg & Susan Steinhauser. The art collector couple has saved photographs by 20th-century Japanese photographers, American and Latin American artists and trusted on their shared collection to the public, as reported by Art Forum.

Susan Steinhauser said in a statement that she and her husband, Daniel Greenberg were part of a "larger personal commitment" and "temporary stewards" in collecting all the arts from a different artist for more than 20 years and foresee the future by bringing it back to the public. She also mentioned that the photographs really helped their relation as a couple and led to numerous lifelong friendship.

It was Daniel Greenberg and Susan Steinhauser's first time to donate to the National Gallery of Art, which started collecting photographs since 1990. Meanwhile, the art collector couple already gave donations of their photographs collection, studio glass, and ceramics to several museums but it was the largest and latest present they've made.

Moreover, Dorothea Lange also gave her most iconic works, such as the 1936 "Migrant Mother," the 1938 "Death in the Doorway" and the 1940 "Migratory Cotton Picker" to the public. Eudora Welty and Ruth Bernhard's first works were part of the highlights in J. Paul Getty Museum.

The 27 works of Imogen Cunningham are included in Getty's collection that might have a monographic exhibition and Chris Killip's 1980 "Isle of Man," which will be part of a major exhibition in May. The art collector couple is founding members of the Getty council which Daniel Greenberg was the current chairman and his wife Steinhauser is a previous chairman.
