Fans have looked forward to the Delena reunion ever since actress Nina Dobrev announced that she was leaving the show. Apart from their well-loved on-screen Damon-Elena love team, many fans have been rooting for the former lovers, speculating that their much anticipated TVD reunion just might rekindle their romantic relationship. Ian Somerhalder's wife Nikki Reed was repeatedly dragged into many jealousy rumors along the way too.

The CW has not yet confirmed Dobrev's appearance in the series finale of "The Vampire Diaries". But during his recent interview with TVLine, Ian Somerhalder shared his thoughts on the Delena connection.

According to Somerhalder, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will prove that Damon and Elena will always be connected by heart despite Elena's deep sleep. The actor adds that Elena will always be the light that constantly casts the darkness away from Damon's life despite her absence. Somerhalder believes that Damon acts the way he knows Elena would approve.

When asked, the actor says he is also looking forward to the Delena reunion in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale episode. But Somerhalder says he honestly have no idea as to whether or not Nina Dobrev will really return to the show.

Celeb Dirty Laundry notes that TVD writers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have already finished writing the script of the final episode of CW's show. Fans believe that since Dobrev's movie with Vin Diesel and Ruby Rose has already been released, the actress can now squeeze the much-awaited TVD return to her schedule.
