US President Donald Trump Will Leave No Surprise To Arts and Humanities For Being 'Fired'

The new elect president of United States, Donald Trump's federal budget plan propose on the elimination of National Endowments for the Arts (NEA) and National Endowment for Humanities (NEH). However, Arts and Humanities will not be shocked if the US president says that they are "FIRED."

Meanwhile, the agency said that NEA's current budget was $146 million that represents only for "0.012% of federal discretionary spending" while NEH also has a budget of $146 million compared to the Department of Defense that got a $607 billion budget. The majority of federal government spending was assigned to non-discretionary programs such as Social Security and Medicare that is not easily lowered and remove.

However, the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the humanities improve museums, researchers, educational institutes and authors by offering grants to them, according to Salon. Brian Darling, former communications chief and staff member of the Heritage Foundation said that Trump Administration needs to reform and stop spending greatly for the useless matter such as the NEA and NEH.

He also added that it was the best first step to show that they are serious about the federal budget change. According to The Hill, the plan was based on the Heritage Foundation's plan published last year and this plan would reduce the federal spending by $10.5 trillion over 10 years.

That plan calls for the elimination of much more government programs like  Violence Against Women Grants, Minority Business Development Agency Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
The reports also added that Trump's plan also aligns with a 2017 budget adopted by the conservative Republican Study Committee, that only show a slight majority of (172 out of 247) House Republicans.

But it is not the first times that the NEA and the NEH were threatened to be abolished, President Reagan also considered the abolishment of both agencies but in the end, he decided to reduce their budgets. However, the president's budget proposal is only the first move while complicated budget approval process which involves negotiation with both the House and the Senate but on a Republican-majority Congress will remain to be an open question.
