Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Baz Luhrmann From The Get Down, Will Star As Black Manta On 'Aquaman' Movie

Best known as Cadillac on one of Netflix' orginal series "The Get Down", Yahya Abdul-Mateen II had been casted to join the current lineup of stars on the upcoming Warner Bros movie "Aquaman". The said film will be starred by Jason Momoa. It will be a superhero movie based on a DC Comics.

Aquaman is currently known as The King of the Seven Seas based on DC Comics. A very reluctant ruler of Atlantis that can hold his own against Superman and Wonder Woman. Aquaman is also part of Justice League, a group of superhero who protects the Earth from evil enemies. Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Flash are also part of Justice League. 

This is the first time that Aquaman will have its stand-alone movie. The first time he was spotted in theaters was at the recent movie titled "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice which was shown last year. It was just a glimpse of what is to come on the DC Movie franchise. 

The villain on the upcoming movie of Aquaman is named Black Manta. Director James Wan and studio had met several potential actor to take the role of Black Manta for over two weeks and finally settled to cast Abdul-Mateen over the weekend according to The Hollywood Reporter. The offer was officially anonounced on Monday and both parties are now collaborating for the upcoming project.

As of now, Warner Bros. stated that the release date of Aquaman would be on October 5, 2018. Zack Snyder is the one in-charge of directing the film. Jason Momoa, an ex-actor of a series called "Game of Thrones", will take up the lead role as Aquaman. The full cast and movie synopsis aren't revealed yet as of now. Since this is the first movie for Aquaman, it is expected that it would offer some brief origin of Aquaman as well as his journey on joining the band of Justice League.
