'Royal Rumble' 2017 News: The Viper, Randy Orton Books A Ticket For 'WrestleMania' Main Event

Another shocking finale happened last Sunday, January 29th on WWE's 30th "Royal Rumble" as Randy Orton became the last man standing in the ring. The event was held at Alamodome in San Antonio Texas. It is also a professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by WWE. The tagline for this year's event is "Remember the Rumble".

The "Royal Rumble" consists of Raw and SmackDown brands fighting in a different matchup. Their main event is always the exciting part. "Royal Rumble" is also the name of the match. It is a battle royal match in having 30 contenders entering the ring at timed intervals. A wrestler is eliminated once they step out of the ring. The winner will have the slot for the upcoming "WrestleMania," his opponent would be the current WWE Champion during that time.

As always, the "Royal Rumble" is always star-studded. Most of the noticeable superstar are Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, The Undertaker, Big Show and Chris Jericho. One of the memorable part during elimination is when Goldberg speared Brock Lesnar and did a clothesline on the ropes thus resulting in Brock's elimination.

In this year's WWE "Royal Rumble," Randy Orton was declared the winner after he eliminated Roman Reigns. Orton got a fresh start at the match. He used his finisher, RKO, to almost all opponent in the ring. According to CBS Sports, Roman Reigns was the biggest surprise entrant of the match due to the fact that he was the 30th man to enter the ring. Randy Orton was the 23rd man to enter and managed to eliminate Roman Reigns after he was thrown over the top rope.

After the match, Randy Orton said in an interview by ESPN Sports that he is very grateful for his victory. He even stated that he felt he had accomplished a lot of great things during the match. As of now, Randy Orton is a two-time "Royal Rumble" winner. What awaits him at this year's "WrestleMania?" We have yet to find out.
