Warner Bros. Studio was still considering for the other directing contenders such as Daniel Espinosa of "Safe House", Jonathan Levine from "50/50," and Ruben Fleischer of "Zombieland" these filmmakers are also up for the job. Last year's "Suicide Squad" movie was written by David Ayer, who is busy doing "Gotham City Sirens."

As claimed by The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Studios was not inactive in terms of producing "Suicide Squad 2." After all the "Suicide Squad" writer and director David Ayer came to direct another DC Project/Warner Bros. movie, "Gotham City Sirens" which features Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. It was recently revealed that "Suicide Squad 2" is in the process, but David Ayer will simply prioritize "Gotham City Sirens" first before handling the "Suicide Squad 2."

Reports from Movie Web stated that David Ayer started writing for "Suicide Squad 2" scripts back in July along with Warner Bros. planning that the filming will launch this spring of 2017. As for Mel Gibson, he has spent last decade followed by a controversy for making racist, anti-Semitic and sexist remarks. Last 2014, his friend Robert Downey Jr. was literally pleading with the industry to forgive Mel Gibson, giving him a chance to star and direct Iron Man 4 but that didn't work out.

The sequel "Suicide Squad 2" was predicted to gather up all of the main stars together, according to Slash Films. If ever Mel Gibson will direct this superhero-villain sequel, it will be another hit movie that will add to the actor's success list after gaining six Oscar nomination including Best Picture and Best Director for his directing role "Hacksaw Ridge."
