'The Vampire Diaries' Season Finale Spoilers: Elena Wakes Up As Old Villain Returns On March 10

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale is fast approaching with only a few episodes away. Based on spoiler reports, the next big highlight is the return of Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert.

A first look at "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 episode 16 "I Was Feeling Epic" provides an idea about Elena, who has been asleep in a casket since Season 6. The recently released trailer, which is a 10-second clip has also confirmed the previous rumors claiming that Nina Dobrev will return to her character as Elena.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale will see Elena waking up, after two seasons or nearly three years. The promo video also shows Elena as she looks at a trophy case in what seems to be Mystic Falls High School, including a glimpse of old pictures from her cheerleading days.

Meantime, a synopsis for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 finale has also been released by  the network. Based on the description of the much anticipated series finale, the fate of Mystic Falls would be uncertain, and Damon and Stefan Salvatore would also come together for the final battle against their greatest enemy ever.

Meanwhile, an old villain is expected to return for the upcoming series finale. Reports suggest that Kai was among the best villains "The Vampire Diaries" ever had, given that he was not around too long for the show to be compelled to humanize his character very much.

Kai is believed to be evil enough to enjoy being evil for most of the time, and as previously reported, the viewers have fun watching him that way.
