‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Update & Spoilers: Sean Astin Plays Winona Ryder’s ‘Boyfriend’, Is Eleven Alive?

News reports about the multi-awarded TV series "Stranger Things" are definitely heating up, with information about the plot of its second season unveiling itself little by little. While other casts of the hit series are silent about what's to come on the show, some have been relatively generous about spoilers.

According to Hollywood Life, David Harbour, who plays Sheriff Hopper on the Netflix show, gives a briefer on what is about to go down in the little town of Hawkins, Indiana when it airs for the second season. Harbour says that there are new casts in the show, one of whom is Sean Astin who will play as Winona Ryder's new boyfriend and is much a chagrin to the Chief of Police.

Although Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) has returned to the real world after having been stuck in the Upside Down for a long time, the show's main characters will deal with the consequences to follow the events in "Stranger Things" Season 1. There is also the question of how El/Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) will return to the human world, given how she disappeared into thin air after sacrificing her life to defeat the Demogorgon as shown in the last episode of the previous season.

Some of the new characters will provide tension for the relationships in the show. For one, Sean Astin will be playing Joyce Byers and Hopper's former classmate, Bob Newby. According to The Wrap, he will be introduced as Joyce's boyfriend when Season 2 rolls in. This spells a love triangle in the making says Cinema Blend.

Speaking of love triangles, things are not over for the Steve-Nancy-Jonathan saga. On the other hand, Brown revealed that "anything can happen" with the three. There are rumblings that Nancy would give Jonathan a second chance in the new season or a new boy in town would shake up Steve and Nancy's relationship.
